Keeping the Momentum in Your Life

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.  Hebrews 12:1.

Momentum is a concept that may be defined as an object in motion. Thus, for an object to have momentum, it must of necessity be moving. As an object’s mass or velocity increases, its momentum increases. An object that has great momentum is a force to be reckoned with. God intends for his people and the Kingdom of God as a whole to keep the momentum. While momentum should not be misconstrued as being the end result, it is certainly a means to an end.

The Bible likens the concept of momentum to the running of a spiritual race, with our obtaining of salvation being the end result or the ultimate prize. The Apostle Paul reminds us of the importance that momentum plays in our Christian lives, explaining that not only must we enter the race, but that we must increase our momentum to the end by running so that we may obtain the ultimate prize. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain. 1 Corinthians 9:24.

The Apostle Paul also cautions us that the enemy of our faith will continuously seek to challenge or thwart our momentum, but that we have authority over his every ability through the name of Jesus Christ. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.  Hebrews 12:1.

It is through our strong faith in God, worship, sacrifice, and giving to the Kingdom of God that we are able to conquer and rise above the cares of life and sin that seek to divert or stop our momentum. Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.  Philippians 1:6.

Momentum is exciting, it is progress, and it is infectious. We welcome you to join with us during any or all of our services as we, as a mighty, unified force, keep the momentum and press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 3:14.
